The Chilean Sea Bass, scientifically referred to as Patagonian Tooth-fish, is a highly sought-after fish species known for its delicious taste and unique qualities. Found in the Southern Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, this deep-water fish has been commercially referred to as the Chilean Sea Bass since 1977, when industry professional Lee Lantz coined the name to appeal to American consumers. In 1994, the FDA officially recognized Chilean Sea Bass as an acceptable alternative name for Patagonian Tooth-fish in the American market.

For ideal cooking outcomes, we suggest thawing each package of fillets overnight in the refrigerator, and then rinsing, drying, and cooking them to your desired preference. To ensure the fish is thoroughly cooked, we recommend using a food thermometer and verifying that the internal temperature reaches at least 145°F, as recommended by the USDA for all fish and shellfish.
